Colin Trippas AMIMI - Company Owner (36 yrs experience)

Colin

After O Levels, Colin went on to pass an ONC in Engineering. He then won a student apprenticeship with Cadbury Schweppes. While studying engineering at Lanchester Polytechnic (Coventry) he went to watch the RAC rally in Sutton Park and his life changed.

He left the course and found an apprenticeship with a specialised motor sport company. After 3 years and a very steep learning curve, he moved to a Jaguar dealership. Then just 2 years later (1979), he left to start his own business. He had decided that he wanted to compete in rallying himself and needed some premises to prepare his car!

During the evenings and weekends, he built cars and compete in rallies while during the day he starting to build up his new business. After 5 years, he stopped rallying and channelled all his energies into building the business.

In 1991, land was aquired from Solihull Council and a new garage was built.

Out of work his interests are motorsport, athletics and more recently cycling. He is a member of a cycling club and competes regularly in time trials.

Stephen Bolan - Garage Manager (32yrs experience)

Steve

Started working on cars in 1976 (during his school holidays) at a VW dealership. On leaving school, he started his apprenticeship at a Ford dealership finishing up with City & Guilds parts 1, 2 & 3 and the National Craftsman practical award.

After working for a British Leyland garage, then an independent garage, he joined Halfords Autocentres where he quickly rose to the position of branch manager. Under his leadership, he went on to win the prize for top performing garage within the group. In February 2001, he joined Kingshurst Automotive.

Steve follows Formula One and other motorsports with a passion, attending race meetings with his son whenever possible.

  

  

Martin Wheat - Workshop foreman, senior technician, MOT tester and diagnostic specialist (24 yrs experience)

"To be good you need to start young" - If that is true, it must apply to Martin. He started helping his father work on cranes from the age of 10 until he started his apprenticeship at 16.

After working at three different independent garages in Lichfield, he joined Kingshurst Automotive in 2003.

Outside of work, Martin enjoys walking and motor sport, attending the British Grand Prix every year without fail!

Carl Mason - Senior technician, MOT tester and air conditioning specialist (14 years experience)

Karl

Started his apprenticeship at a Rover dealership a week after leaving school. After three years of day release at college, he passed his City & Guilds 383 and NVQ level 3.
With hard work, he went on to become head mechanic and workshop foreman. Carl joined us in February 2007, after the Rover group went into receivership.

Carl spends his spare time looking after his young son and enjoys watching motor sports.

Paul Mansell - Senior technician and MOT tester (28 years experience)

Paul

Paul joined the motor trade as an apprentice in 1982.
He has previously worked at Lucas Autocentres and Nationwide Autocentres, where he reached the position of centre manager.

Eventually joined us in 2007 when he decided to go back to what he enjoys, working as a mechanic.
Away from the garage, he enjoys rugby and off-roading in his Land Rover.

  

Clifford Lehmann - Senior technician and MOT tester (18 years Experience)

Cliff

Started working for us in 2003 with a an NVQ L2 in Motor Vehicle Studies and wide ranging experience, gained at 4 previous garages including a Vauxhall Main Dealer.

Cliff enjoys music, socialising & cruise holidays.

Matthew Douglas

Matt

Having joined us in September 2008, Matt works as a tyre fitter & semi skilled mechanic.

Steven Collins

Steph

Retired from BT after "30 years up a pole". Steve puts his hand to everything, from wiring up the computer network to collecting customer vehicles.

Likes walking and the odd tipple of whisky.

  

Laura Fallows - Senior customer service advisor

Laura joined us in June 2009 with some excellent qualifications and a large amount of experience in a wide range of customer service roles.

Laura enjoys snowboarding, socialising, football and supports Arsenal.
